Adam Parnaby
Doctoral Trainee
I am a postgraduate researcher, designer, and maker. My research interests concern the social and technical complexities of digital transformation projects. This includes the impacts of digital skills, literacy, and access. I have published on topics including the design of digital welfare benefit systems, and the complexities of digital skills and access interventions in the North East of England's voluntary sector. Increasingly, I am also working to support AI literacy in a range of organisations.
I have supported teaching on topics including user experience design, software engineering, ubiquitous computing, the social impacts of technology.
Before joining Open Lab, I spent several years designing live games and escape rooms. I have designed and built a variety of technologies including automated radiation monitors, digital noticeboards, interactive puzzles and teambuilding games, and a password-protected rotary phone.
